Hello! I’m Laura. I am currently based in North Lincolnshire, UK. I have a first class honours degree in Illustration and an MA in Design – where I explored narrative imagery within children’s picture books. I enjoy traditional methods of illustration and am extremely passionate about painting. Using various mediums I enjoy creating narrative images that can speak to different audiences/age ranges. I am highly imaginative and thrive when creating stories or conceptual artwork, which is why I enjoy crafting editorial pieces too. I also enjoy following new trends and using my findings, such as colour and objects, to apply to various things that I may be working on. I currently find myself inspired by delightfully mundane and often overlooked aspects of everyday life, such as the way a living room is arranged, or the washing blowing on the line – things that are often included in my everyday, and things that are familiar to me.

Please visit my sketchbook collection page for an insight into the development work that is carried out when working on a project, or to see some fun quick sketches, experiments and drawing from life.

I have experience working across several genres of illustration, and thrive when creating exciting sequential imagery, specifically for children’s picture books.

I enjoy a busy life as a first time mother, along with various other creative pursuits (when I have the time!) such as playing instruments and cooking, or simply sitting in the garden with a coffee and talking nonsense with my partner!

I hope you enjoy looking through my portfolio, please visit the contact page if you have any questions, or would just like to say hello!
